The Rector of Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP), Prof. Dr. Ganefri Ph.D, opened Research and Community Service activities in Agam regency and Bukittinggi located in the “Ikan Sakti” of Janaih River Kenagarian Tabek Panjang, Baso, Agam Regency. (Monday/ September 10, 2018)

Arriving at the location, the Rector and his accompany were greeted by the local community with a Gelombang dance which is signifying the enthusiasm of the community with the arrival of the number one person at Universitas Negeri Padang and the activity which will be carried out in their area.

The Rector of Universitas Negeri Padang, Prof. Dr. Ganefri, Ph.D., on his speech said that the task of a lecturer besides of teaching on campus is also to conduct research and community service so that the knowledge and research possessed by lecturers can be synergized on the community.

“In addition to research and community service, the teacher development programs in the area also need to be improved and for this teacher development, UNP is ready to implement it,” Ganefri said.

The Regent of Agam, Ir.H Indra Catri, MSP, and the Mayor of Bukittingi who was represented by the head of the Education and cultural department, Drs. Melvi Abra, M, Si, are very welcomed both Research and Devotion activity which held in their area. This research and service is highly expected by our community because applied research can be directly felt by the community.

In the activity, MoU was also signed between Universitas Negeri Padan, Agam Regency, and Bukittinggi. The event was also attended by the Rector, Vice-Rector I and II, Dean, and the Chairperson of the Institutes and Units of the UNP, Muspida of Agam and Bukititnggi, Ninik Mamak, and the leader of the local community.
