A number of regencies and cities have been assisted by Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) through conducting research and community service in order to run the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi in the Regency of Solok, the City of Solok, and the Regency of South Solok. The opening activity was held in the Solok Nan Indah Arosuka Room, Tuesday (September, 18).
Attended by the Rector of UNP, Prof. Ganefri, the Regent of Solok, Gusmal, the Deputy Mayor of Solok, Reinir Dt. Intan Batuah, the Regional Secretary, H.Yulian Efi, and the Vice-Rectors and Deans within UNP, the activity which opened the implementation of research and community service for the 3 districts was ended with the signing of the MoU between UNP and the Government of Solok Regency, Solok City, and South Solok Regency.
The Rector of UNP, Prof. Ganefri, in his remarks said that it was expected that the research and the dedication that carried out by the lecturers would be felt by the community in each area which was used as a location for specific research.
"UNP will continue to improve on developing the existing study programs and developing students in order to prepare some experts in their respective fields", Prof. Ganefri said.
Meanwhile, the Regent of Solok, H. Gusmal, SE, MM., asked for a report and the coordination between each research result and the Head of Government of each regional in order to follow up and to utilize the maximal opportunity of the research.
"It will greatly help the government in developing the potential of the region, namely in the fields of agriculture, tourism, and culinary. We hoped that research can be carried out periodically and continuously", Gusmal said. (Tuesday, September 18).
Previously the Head of the Research and Community Service Institutions (LP2M) of UNP, Prof. Dr. Rusdinal, M.Pd., in his report explained that this activity was the 10th, 11th, and 12th collaboration between UNP and the district / city government in West Sumatra Province. This was the selection result of the best proposal which was submitted by the lecturer of UNP.
"The Regency of Solok is the district that received the largest allocation of funding assistance for research and service which amounting to 434 million rupiah. The research and dedication will have an impact on the development and on progress of the development of a region in various aspects of life", Prof. Rusdinal explained.
