There is no satisfied word for students and academics of the Department of Physics Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) and the Department of Geosciences Universiti Teknolgi Petronas (UTP) Malaysia. After the Exchange Collaboration Program, the following activities such as join research, join curriculum, join publications, and cooperation between UTP and UNP was held.

In the opening ceremony of the Exchange Collaboration Program between Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) Malaysia and the Physics Department of UNP, the Vice-Rector IV of UNP, Prof. Syahrial Bakhtiar, gave a speech and briefing on Thursday (September 6, 2018).

"Indonesia through UNP has a long history of supporting innovative science, technology, and research in Malaysia. We are proud to the arrival of 20 students of UTP in this collaboration program", Vice-Rector IV of UNP said.

Prof. Syahrial Bakhtiar said that the Physics Department collaboration with the Geoscience Department of UTP can increase the capacity of higher education institutions in both countries in order way to find solutions to the most big development challenges in the future, namely the challenges of the Industrial Revolution 4.0.

After the opening ceremony, the lecturers of Physics Department including Dr. Ahmad Fauzi, M.Si (field of Gravity Methods), Dr. Hamdi Rifai, M.Si (field of the magnetic of rocks), Syafriani Binti Ali Umar, Ph.D (field of seismic method), Yohandri Azwiri, Ph. D (field of georadar), and Drs. Mahrizal M.Si (field of resistivity method) were involved as the speakers in the Short Course.

The activity is planned to take place from Thursday to Sunday (September 6 to 9), including a public lecture with Dr. Mohd Suhaili Ismail from the Department of Geoscience of UTP, the Singan Course, and Labor Visit. At the end, it will be continued by the MoU assessment between the two universities (UTP and UNP).

On the activity, the Head of International Office of UNP, Ananda Putra, Ph.D. and the Vice-Dean I of Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Dr. Yulkifli, M.Si., also presented. (Public Relations of UNP/Translated by Shilva Lioni)
