Padang--- At the beginning of 2019, Universitas Negeri Padang, Saturday (February, 2019) made a surprise became a host of the forum discussion of Indonesia rector.  The Rector of UNP serves as the host of FRI embrace the general Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia (RI Kemenristekdikti ), Dr. Ir. Patdono, S., M.Eng. Sc. as a key speaker and advise of FRI, Prof. Dr. Rochmat Wahab, M.Ed., and The Rector of UT, Prof. Ojat Darojat, Ph.D. as another speakers.

The leader of FRI Prof. Dr. Dwia A Tina Palubuhu as The Rector of Universitas Hasanuddin (UNHAS), Makassar, she was asked to give a speech and officially opening the FGD with the theme “Education in the Era of Industrial Revolution 4.0”

Dwia A Tina Palubuhu said that FGD is a forum to respond and recommend various issues of national and state, and also the results of the FGD were submitted to the government through Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia.

Furthermore, a focused discussion took place in the Senate Meeting Room of the Rectorate Building, Air Tawar, Prof. Hamka was moderated by The Rector of UNP, Prof. Ganefri and some rectors of state/private universities, The Rector of Universitas Maritim Raja Ali Haji, Prof. Dr. Syafsir Aklhus, MSc, The Rector of Universitas Andalas Prof. Dr. Tafdil Husni, The Rector of ISI Padang Panjang, Prof. Dr. H. Novesar Jamarun, The Rector of Universitas Bung Hatta, Prof. Dr. Azwar Ananda and others.

The General Director of Institution of kemeristekdikti presented the material with topic “The strategic Inflection point in higher education, The Chairman of the FRI Honorary Board, Rochmat Wahab also presented the material with the topic “The development of Mayor-Minor Curriculum, and Rector of UT, Ojat Darojat with the topic “The online learning in disruption Era”.

The participants received the input and information about an education issues in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0 and also given the opportunity to express their opinions.

On that occasion, Patdono S, said that anticipating Indonesia would lack around 57 million skilled workers by 2030, the opportunity for vocational education graduates to have certification so that they could still compete in this disruptive era. He added that the need for a strategy for vocational education, with the hope to accommodate the needs of the present generation so that it can continue to develop optimally.

“In the future, the student of politeknik or diploma 3 and 4 (Bachelor of Applied-red) may not otherwise have a graduation certificate of a competency,” said Patdono.

In addition, Prof. Ganefri gave an opportunity to several rectors of PTN/PTS and director of Politeknik gives the response to all topics presented by the speaker. However, the limitation of the time was exactly 13.15 pm of the 6th Forum of Indonesia rector ended with a photo session.

Therefore, the Rector of UNP, Prof. Ganefri succeeded to convincing the rector of the PTN/PTS that the highest of education in west Sumatra has increased over time. The supports of the rector of PTN/S is important for UNP to realize that UNP became as a superior university in the Regions of South-East Asia in 2020.(Public Relations of UNP)
