Body parts of pig were very widely used by people on industrial raw materials with different types of uses. Lard sometimes is used in dumplings, sausages, cosmetics, flavorings, margarine, and so on. The meat is also used in flavoring, burgers, ham, and so on. The skin is used in collagen. Bones is used for activated carbon. Gelatin of pig is used for emulsions, jellies, capsule shells, candies, etc. Sea urchins are used for brushes and cysteine. Pig offal is also used for crackers, porcine, rennin, insulin, and cosmetics.
“The extent of the use of pig's body must be a serious concern for Muslim consumers both in terms of food, clothing, cosmetics, home appliances, and medicines in order to avoid contamination of illicit substances,” Dina Sudjana from the Halal Center of Salman ITB Bandung conveyed in Halal Class 1st session which was held by the Halal Study Center of UNP, Monday (September 17, 2018) in the old senate's courtroom of UNP.
Halal Class is general lecture which is free and open for public that was organized by Halal Study Center of UNP for 16 meetings on every two weeks. The topics which were presented are about hot issues on Halal themes. "The 1st session on Halal Class was attended by 100 participants that consisting of Lecturers, Students, and the general public on the topic of “Critical Points on Food, Medicine, and Cosmetics Processing", Management of PKH, UNP, Prof. Dr. Anni Faridah revealed.
