"In addition to the discussion about the General Lecture which will take place on Saturday (September, 1), our meeting also agreed on the idea that UNP would have an Indo-Pacific Study Center in the future," said the Rector of UNP, Prof. Ganefri, accompanied by the Vice-Rector IV, Prof. Syahrial Bakhtiar.

The Head of Research and Development Policy in Asia, Pacific, and Africa, KEMENLU RI, Dr. Arifi Saiman, MA., supported UNP to take steps forward in order to contribute to the development of education and culture related to Indo Pacific ones, because the Indo Pacific region has become a strategic area in future economic development with all of its potential.

Dr. Arifi Saiman added that in the midst of geo-political and geo-economic changes in the Indo-Pacific region, ASEAN must continue to contribute and innovate to the world in order to show its centrality.

"It means that the Foreign Ministers of ASEAN in the future are needed to improve the peaceful Indo-Pacific region. So, if Universitas Negeri Padang has a Study Center on this matter, it is certainly easier for Universitas Negeri Padang to be better known in other Pacific countries," Arifi said.
