BI Collaborates With LP3H UNP Holds Socialization Of MSME Halal Certification

Padang – Bank Indonesia (BI) of West Sumatra Province collaborates with the Halal Product Process Assistance Institute (LP3H) of Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) held a Socialization of Halal Certification through Independent Pathways for MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) on Thursday, (25/7/2024), at the Representative Office of Bank Indonesia of West Sumatra Province.

Based on information received by UNP Public Relations, Thursday (1/8/2024) this activity was carried out to encourage the growth of the halal industry in the region, facilitating (MSMEs) fostered to obtain halal certificates. In addition, the material from LP3H UNP is expected to provide a comprehensive understanding to MSME players regarding halal certification requirements and procedures. LP3H UNP also then provides assistance to these business actors so that they can obtain halal certificates.

“This collaboration with LP3H UNP is a strategic step to strengthen the ecosystem of the halal food industry and modest fashion in West Sumatra,” said Lukman Hakim, Assistant Director of Bank Indonesia Representative Office of West Sumatra Province.

BI West Sumatra itself has hundreds of fostered MSMEs, some of which are engaged in the food and beverage sector. With assistance from LP3H, it is hoped that BI-assisted MSMEs can more easily and quickly obtain halal certificates.

Halal certificates are not only a requirement for marketing products domestically, but also the key to penetrating international markets that are increasingly demanding halal products.

Meanwhile Edi Saputra, Chairperson of LP3H UNP is grateful for BI’s trust to assist its fostered business actors in obtaining Halal Certificates. “Alhamdulillah, we are grateful for BI’s trust to assist PU in obtaining SH. This will certainly make it easier for LP3H UNP to achieve the target of 35,000 SH quota for the coming year 2025, said this lecturer of PAI FIS UNP happily.

As previously reported that BPJPH in the national coordination meeting in Jakarta in early June 2024 yesterday has mandated a quota to us LP3H UNP 35,000 SH of 3 million SH Self Declare scheme for 2025.

This trust is also inseparable from the guidance and coordination that continues to be carried out by the West Sumatra Halal Task Force. “One of the main tasks and functions of the Halal Task Force in the regions is to coordinate with related parties to be able to cooperate with LP3H in achieving targets from BPJPH at the Center, and we encourage the LP3H to continue to work actively in a professional manner. Said Ikrar of the West Sumatra Halal Task Force who also participated as a presenter.

The socialization, which was attended by MSME players, presented speakers from LP3H UNP, namely Edi Saputra, S.Pd., M.Pd, and Miftahul Khair, S.Si, M.Sc., Ph.D, and also from the Sumbar Halal Task Force Dr. H. Ikrar Abdi, S.Ag., M.Ag. The speakers delivered material, ranging from the concept of halal in Islam, halal certification regulations, halal production processes (PPH and SJPH), to assisting the halal product process.
