Padang – The Community Service Team of Padang State University (UNP) held an Event Management Training activity in Nagari Koto Laweh, Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra on Wednesday (12/10/2024).
This activity is part of the Community Service activity entitled Mountain Tourism Development in Nagari Koto Laweh which is led by Management Department Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Okki Trinanda S.E, M.M..
In his remarks, Okki revealed that this activity was carried out in preparation for Nagari Koto Laweh to carry out a major event in November 2024, which is one of the villages designated to organize one nagari one event.
It is hoped that with this training activity, the rough ideas that already exist from the community and youth of Koto Laweh can be sharpened into a more concrete plan. After this training, there will still be two more mentoring sessions until the event organized by Nagari Koto Laweh is successfully implemented, he said, who is also the Head of the UNP Public Relations and Protocol Information Service Office when giving a speech at the Koto Laweh Nagari Mayor’s Office.
He further said that this year is the third year of Mountain Tourism Development activities in Nagari Koto Laweh, Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra. In the first year, the service activities succeeded in carrying out 5 days of training related to MSME development, halal certification, product development and others. The second year carried out branding and launching of the Sawah Sambilan area as a Mountain Tourism tourist destination. And this year the service will be closed with an event.
Meanwhile, the Wali Nagari Koto Laweh expressed his appreciation to the service team for seriously providing an event preparation assistance program through Event Management Training. Because Koto Laweh has no experience in organizing events. Currently, many ideas have emerged from youth and community leaders, but they are still limited to discourse. All participants are asked to be serious in participating in this training, and it is hoped that the resource person will open up the widest possible discussion opportunities, he said.
The same thing was also expressed by the X Koto Sub-District Head, Muhammad Yahya Suryadi Putera, S.STP. He fully supports and appreciates the service activities of the UNP Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM). Hopefully UNP service activities can continue in the following years, because Nagari Koto Laweh is a Nagari Binaan UNP, he hoped.
The speakers at this Event Management Training activity were Dr. Hijriyantomi Suyuthie, S.IP, M.M and Rian Surenda, S.E.I, M.M who discussed various aspects of organizing events, from planning to evaluating activities. The training was attended by participants consisting of youth representatives, community leaders, and local village officials, who were enthusiastic in following each session given.
