UNP Meeting With APDI West Sumatra To Explore Cooperation And Development Of Drone Knowledge

Padang – Rector of Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) Krismadinata, Ph.D conducted an audience with the Indonesian Drone Pilot Association (APDI) West Sumatra Regional, Monday (20/8/2024) in the Rector’s Room of the Rectorate Building. 

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of APDI West Sumatra, Dr. Nofi Yendri Sudiar, M.Si., Secretary of APDI West Sumatra Edi Kurnia, S.Si., Rescue Division Muhammad Tyo Fadli, Am.D. from; and Harmedi Yulian Saputra, S.Pd., APDI member.

During the meeting, several important topics were discussed. First, the exploration of cooperation between UNP and APDI through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). In addition, it is expected that there will be a cooperation agreement (PKS) linking APDI West Sumatra with various faculties and study programs within UNP.

“We are very enthusiastic about collaborating with APDI. This will open up new opportunities for UNP in the development of drone technology and related research. We hope this collaboration will not only improve the quality of education but also provide real benefits for our students and academic community,” said Rector Kris. 

The discussion also included the importance of understanding Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) or drone regulations for the UNP academic community, given that the UNP campus is located in the flight operation safety area (KKOP) and many lecturers’ research related to drone technology.

In addition, UNP students are expected to gain in-depth knowledge about drones and have a remote pilot certificate. This is considered important to increase their competitiveness in the world of work in the future.

This audience activity is the first step in building synergy between UNP and APDI to improve the quality of education and research in the field of drone technology. (Utr / UNP Public Relations)
