UNP Rector Signs MoA With Chinese TFSU Rector

Tianjin – Various efforts have been made by Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) to achieve World Class University (WCU) by establishing various forms of international cooperation programs with universities that already have an international reputation, one of which is with Tianjin Foreign Studies University (TFSU) a region located in the People’s Republic of China (PRC). The signing of the MoA (Memorandum of Agreement) between UNP represented by the Rector of UNP Prof. Ganefri, Ph.D with TFSU by its Rector Prof. Dr. Chen Fachun, Friday April 19, 2024 at the Meeting Room of the TFSU Tianjin campus.

UNP Rector Prof. Ganefri, Ph.D in his press statement said “The contents of the UNP MoA with TFSU are essentially the establishment of the Confusius Institute (CI), which has the task and function to prepare for the opening of the Chinese Language Education Study Program at the Faculty of Language and Arts (FBS) UNP, because the influence of China in various aspects of world life both socio-economic, technology and culture that has globalized makes the world community interested in learning Mandarin. The presence of CI will provide access for Minangkabau people in Padang to learn Mandarin which will gradually allow them to interact not only with Chinese people in Padang but also with their business partners in China and other countries. In addition, there are also programs for Lecturer Exchange, Student Exchange, and Team Teaching between the two Universities, “said the UNP Rector who is the national Best Rector in 2023 to UNP Public Relations.

UNP delegates who attended besides the Rector were Vice Rector IV for Planning, Cooperation and Information Systems Prof. Dr. Yasri, M.S, Vice Rector II for Facilities and Finance Prof. Ir. Syahril, M.Sc, Ph.D, Director of Internationalization Prof. Rusnardi Rahmat, M.Eng, Ph.D and Head of Sub Directorate of International Reputation Prof. Fachrur Razi, M.Si, Ph.D (Er / UNP Public Relations).
