Padang – Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) invited the Director General of Higher Education, Research and Technology (Dirjen Dikti Ristek) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemdikbud Ristek), Prof. Dr. rer. Nat. Abdul Haris, M.Sc to provide information on UNP towards World Class University.
The event, which was held in the Senate Meeting Room, UNP Rectorate Building on Tuesday (16/4/2024), was attended by the UNP Rector, Prof. Ganefri, Ph.D and Chair of the University Academic Senate Prof. Dr. Lufri, M.S.
In the event held on the first day of work after the Eid holiday, the Rector wished the UNP academic community a Happy Eid al-Fitr 1445 H.
“On behalf of UNP, we wish you a happy Eid al-Fitr, Minal Aidin Wal Faizin,” said Prof. Ganefri.
On that occasion he revealed that this event was held in order for UNP to achieve its target in 2025 of being ranked in the Top 800th World Class University ranking. Therefore, he also continues to encourage UNP lecturers to publish at least one reputable publication every semester.
“Because publications have a huge impact and effect on our academic reputation in the world,” explained the Chair of the Council of Chancellors of Indonesian State Universities.
Meanwhile, Prof. Abdul Haris appreciated UNP’s rapid achievements in the hands of Prof. Ganefri.
He also explained about World Class Universities (WCU), the strategy for getting to WCU as well as the challenges and opportunities.
“There are criteria to become a World Class University, including that it must be operated and managed very well, then be at the forefront in science and knowledge development and finally have competitiveness regarding quality and standards that are recognized worldwide,” he explained.
