The Event Of Minangkabau Open Swimming Championship II Within Sumatra Island : 485 Participants From 6 Provinces Were Competing At The Swimming Pool Of The Faculty Of Sport Sciences UNP

Padang–The Dolphin Swimming Club in Padang City organized the Minangkabau Open Swimming Championship II. The competition took place at the swimming pool of the Faculty of Sports Science (FIK) UNP on Wednesday, December 21st.

The Chair of the Organizing Committee for the Minangkabau Open Swimming Championship II, Damsir, explained to the UNP Public Relations that a total of 485 participants from 51 swimming clubs would take part in the competition. He mentioned, “Participants came from sixprovinces in Sumatra, they are North Sumatra, Riau, Jambi, Bengkulu, and South Sumatra.”

Additionally, the Minangkabau Open Swimming Championship II featured 126 medals that were contested by the participants.

In an enthusiastic atmosphere, this championship was attended by various parties, including Dr. Erianjoni, who delivered the opening speech. Dr. Erianjoni highlighted UNP’s commitment to nurturing swimming sports, turning this event not just into a competition but also an effort to develop the potential of swimming athletes in Sumatra.

The secretary of UNP also expressed his pride in the success of the event. He enthusiastically said that “Minangkabau Open Swimming Championship II for Sumatra Island was conducted not only as the competition event, but also as a medium for strengthening the bonds among the athletes and swimming clubs”. (AB/Humas).
